Driving against a ghost
When I drove in iRacing, one of the best, if not the best racing simulation, I took a pleasure to race against the ghost car.
The most novice of us may not know that system that allows to compete yourself. The simulation saves your best lap, your best lines, and restore them in the form of a ghost which you can compete. Obviously, as the game updates the Ghost after each lap, the better your last time is, the better your ectoplasm is.
Under GTR2 it is in the "Against the clock" that I lauch this exercise.
But why running against yourself? The answer is obvious: to improve yourself.
During the preparation of my race of the week, after, of course, the discovery of the track, of the acceleration and braking points (and after trying to get all the gold wheels), through the driving school, I always take a little time to launch this challenge, using a basic setup.
This allows me to push my limits while observing my own mistakes at the ghost. And, quite simply, I find it more fun to try to overcome myself, than passing through the cars driven by an AI (Artificial Intelligence). Once I feel I can not go further in my performance, I stop and start to work the setup.
Facing the ghost car is a great exercise that I recommend to all. However, you must prove a lot of humility, because when you see from outside the silly mistakes that you can do, it can be frustrating.
Good luck.
